Could you be a little more specific about what you are doing?

I get the impression that you are downloading the file to a
Windoze PC (at work?), and want to take the 2.5MB file home
and put it on your Linux box.  Am I right?

If that part is correct, please tell me about your home PC.
Is it dual boot Linux & Windoze, or Linux only?
