My 386/25 with 16 megs of ram works very well as a MASQ firewall, and a
sendmail server. File serving might be pushing things, since IDE disk
access really sucks if its running off an under powered CPU.

nah, you dont need anyhting more powerful :) (except maybe for
fileserveing)

9pins are either CGA or EGA, i believe. i believe i have an old EGA card
you could use if you want it. Actually, now that i think of it, its some
king of EGA/VGA mix (two connectors on the card)... but i doubt linux has
any support for the VGA, other than text mode. Its yours if you come to a
meeting. (let me know)

this beast right here has a 150 meg hard drive. 800 megs will be plenty to
do IP masq and things. and the extra space would do for a Web server, like
you mentioned maybe doing.

Right.... just and old ega/cga/anything that does textmode/ will work fine
in linux. Especially if its just a network machine, and doesnt need a
graphical console.
