The latest kernel (which should be on a Redhat CD?) 2.0.36 contains fixes for
some of the Cyrix bugs, at least for the 686 variety. Some "special" features
can be turned on using a patch found at http://www.tux.org/~balsa/linux/cyrix/
I looked at this when I was thinking about upgrading my system last, but I
didn't get a Cyrix because I decided I wanted SMP.
The MediaGX from Cyrix is not supported by RedHat, but I don't know what the
specific grievences are.
On another note the 2.0.36 kernel correctly picks up all 256Mb of RAM in my
system with an append line in the LILO conf file. 2.0.35 only got the
"standard 64Mb" reported by the lame old BIOS.
