Requires no technical skills, some organizational skills, and storage space.
Summary:
Care, inventory, and distribution of books which make up the KLUG library.
1. Storage space adequate for undamaged retention of all books shall be
provided by the Librarian or a designee. The specific manner in which
books are stored and shipped is up to the individual[s] involved.
2. Arranging with the Webmaster and Sitemaster to maintain a page on the KLUG
website that reflects what books are available, and to whom.
3. Receiving (with others, as designated) shall requests from users of the
website constituting requests for books to be borrowed.
4. Determine the eligibility of requesters for books requested, and shall
be responsible for verifying that:
a) The people requesting books shall appear at a KLUG meeting to
pick up and return the books.
b) The books are actually brought out of inventory and to the meeting.
c) Who is in possession of what books, and for how long.
5. Handling relations with book vendors and publishers, in order to add
samples, evaluations and promotional copies to our inventory.
6. Advising on the following topics:
a) What new books would make good acquisitions.
b) What inventory can be reduced or eliminated due to obsolescence, or
for specific promotional activities such as raffles.
c) Books to be replaced.
The person filling this position is not responsible for performing all of the
work, but is free to recruit and delegate specific tasks as needed to engage
new skills, permit others to learn, and ensure that items will be delivered
as needed in a timely way. Specific parts of this may be shared over more than
one person. We encourage more people to participate with some overlapping
functions, rather than saddling one person with the entire assignment.
