I can tackle this, although version 2.0.4 is a bit different from what I
configured, and v2.1 is completely different, config files are not
compatible etc.

Is gnugk installed now or did it not build at all?
What version did you try?
I wrote down, but forgot to grab, the versions of the (ximianized) pwlib
and h.323. openh323.org is up to pwlib 1.5.0 and h323 1.12.0

yep, asterisk will provide gatekeeping peer-to-peer (trusted or
'friends'), but it uses gnugk (or similar) to assign id's to clients when
they connect remotely.

dynamic IAX extensions is beyond me - for now ;-)

MP123 http://www.mpg123.de/ (re) places mp3 support in redhat 8 & 9
