It is a good primer although pretty much right from the asterisk handbook.

It mentions that it only runs on Linux for Intel but that really means
Intel processors only - no AMD support - unless you compile the kernel
without the AMD optimizations. Although there has been some success
running it on the VIA C3 and Eden processors.
