Probably.  In any case, it pays to be careful.

It's probably easier to upgrade your whole distribution!
Upgrading evolution itself can be a real pain.
It uses many gnome libraries, and when you upgrade them,
it may effect other gnome components...  Good way to screw
up your whole system!  (been there, done that! :)

How often to you copy/paste out of emails?
If it's not often, it may be easier to use a different
email client when you copy/paste.  Probably a text based
client would be the safest (mutt, pine, etc.) but who
knows which one will work for you.
